Accreditation of Media


All media organizations will need to apply for JEMB accreditation in order to access the dedicated media centre for journalists in Kabul as well as any electoral facilities across Afghanistan on polling day and beyond.

You are strongly advised to apply well before polling day in order to ensure access.

Any media organization or individual journalist can be accredited. A representative of a media organization is allowed to apply for accreditation for several journalists from the same media organization at once.

The following requirements have to be met for a domestic media representative:

1. Submission of Application Form A03: Media Accreditation to any of the 34 JEMBS Provincial Offices and/or to JEMB HQ in Kabul.
2. Submission of signed Code of Conduct for Media Representatives.
3. Submission of copy of valid photo ID.
4. Either documentary proof that the media representative is registered as a journalist with the Ministry of Information; a letter signed by a Bureau Chief or Assignment Editor from media organization registered with the Ministry of Information; a letter from an Afghan public authority.

The following requirements have to be met for a foreign media representative:

1. Submission of Application Form A03: Media Accreditation to any of the 34 JEMBS Provincial Offices and/or to JEMB HQ in Kabul.
2. Submission of Code of Conduct for Media Representatives
3. Submission of copy of passport or valid photo ID
4. A letter signed by the applicant’s Bureau Chief or Assignment Editor.

The Media representative may apply in person directly to any of the 34 JEMBS Provincial Offices and/or to JEMB HQ in Kabul or download Form A03: Media Accreditation from this website and submit the application forms either by e-mail (accreditation@unops.org.af) as a scanned attachment or by fax (+93 (0) 70 106 175. If applying by email or fax make sure that copies of all required document are submitted as well.
