GENDER SECTION
The Gender Section* is working to address gender-related issues through support for female candidates, female voters, and organizations working with them in preparation for the upcoming Wolesi Jirga and Provincial Council elections. This entails developing a knowledge base on gender issues, women's organizations, women's networks, and gender expertise in Afghanistan to support the participation of women in the election process. One aspect of our work is to provide guidance on messaging vis-à-vis gender and elections. To this end, we work closely with Public Outreach, Training and Capacity Building , and other departments at JEMBS.
We also liaise and coordinate closely with the Ministry of Women's Affairs (MoWA) and their affiliates at the provincial level (DoWAs). The Gender Section also works with gender focal points in other UN agencies to improve women's participation in the elections and their access to various training and election-related opportunities.
